A lot of us have been directly or indirectly impacted by substance use-related problems. When it comes to addictive behaviors, I take into consideration my client’s level of change. It is not every time a client walks into my office that they are aware of the need for a change, or ready to change. I will meet you where you are and we can build on your strengths to help you with contemplating or implementing change. But we don’t only focus on the addiction, we identify factors like trauma or mental illness that might prompt your use of mood-altering substances, or other addictive behaviors. I don’t see individuals who are actively using. I provide services to those in the maintenance stage of their recovery (have completed inpatient or intensive outpatient and needing aftercare)
